Once an organization begins to understand the implications of big data and the importance of operating at customer speed, corporate cultures and attitudes begin to evolve. This leads to significant changes in product offerings, customer service, marketing programs, operations, and organizational structure.
What is customer speed?
Customers are more empowered than ever. With the huge advancements in smart technology, they have access to more information and retailers. Smart mobile devices and laptops let consumers shop from just about anywhere. By scanning a UPC code with a smartphone or tablet, they can learn where the item is cheapest, where to find it locally, and how it stacks up (i.e., reviews). Retailers must provide the right offers at the right time to the right customer in real-time, or at customer speed.
